Purpose & Overview

The College Preparation Program is for high school students who plan to transition to a 4-year university and who want to experience a preview of American University life. This Summer 2-week program engages students with the academic excellence found at the University of California, Riverside and provides exposure to American university campus environment and culture.

In this program, students are introduced to the challenges and responsibilities of college life so that they are better prepared for their future college experience. The College Preparation Program also supports students through the college admissions process by providing opportunities SAT test preparation, college writing and research classes, and college discourse and rhetoric courses.

Students in the College Preparation Program live on campus in a UCR dorm to have the full college housing experience. UCR's Pentland Hills is a newly renovated dorm with shared suite-style accommodation. Daily meal plans are included in the housing cost.

The College Preparation Program aims to give international high school students academic and acculturative exposure to an American University Environment so that students can achieve higher SAT scores for top-tier university admissions and have a successful high school to college transition.

Who Can Attend

This program does not require an F-1 visa.

This program is intended for 10th and 11th grade students who must be at least 15yrs of age.

$1167 housing fee* (includes 3 meals/day and weekly linen charges)

*Housing is based on double occupancy in UCR Pentland Hills on-campus dorm

Before You Apply

You will be asked create an account and you will need to provide a valid email address, mailing address and other personal information.

Collect any required documents so that you are prepared to upload them.

Supporting Documents:

  • Agency/embassy/partner university information. (Only required if you have one.)
  • Copy of your passport photo page.
  • Statement of Financial Support Form. (Only if your program requires an F-1 (student) visa)
  • Financial statement from the Bank, in English. (Only if your program requires an F-1 (student) visa)
  • If you are applying as an F-1 transfer student from another U.S. institution, you must submit copies of your current I-20 form, I-94 form, and F-1 visa. If you are accepted, your acceptance letter will provide further instructions on completing your transfer.
  • If you are under 18 years old, have your parents complete the parental release form.

Note: Some programs require additional documentation.
