Academic-Year Certificate Program (AYCP)
Program Highlights
- Nine-month program (three 12-week sessions)
- September start only
- Full-time study - Evening class format
- Students who complete a nine-month certificate are eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT)
- Students may also enroll in classes from the Intensive English Program (IEP) (subject to availability; additional fees apply)
Admission Requirements
- Advanced-level English required (minimum TOEFL 550 PBT, 80 iBT; IELTS 6.5)
- Minimum age: 18
- No degree required
If you are applying for Academic-Year Certificate Programs you must also complete an AYCP - Candidate Appraisal Form.
Application Deadline: This program has limited enrollment and can fill quickly. We recommend you apply 3 to 6 months prior to the program start date to better assure placement in desired classes.
About the Academic Year Certificate Programs
The Academic Year Certificate Programs (AYCP) are nine-month, full-time programs designed to provide you with the core skills and knowledge needed to work in a range of professional fields. Offered in partnership with the University of California, Riverside Extension, AYCP can help you develop the critical skills and specialized knowledge needed to meet anticipated future needs in many kinds of careers. You can also get practical work experience and develop a professional network of American and international colleagues.

Students who successfully complete the full academic requirements for the AYCP may apply for permission to obtain paid work for up to 12 months in their field of study. This allows students an opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired in the classroom to a practical work experience off campus. This work experience is called Optional Practical Training (OPT).
The University of California, Riverside, IEP will assist students with their OPT application; however, students are responsible for finding their own job opportunity.
The estimated cost for the program is based upon course tuition, fees, housing and other expenses.
