Congratulations,
Edmund Buenrostro, "The First Face of IEP"
In
ceremonies on April 19, IEP's Transportation Coordinator
and Cultural Liaison, Edmund Buenrostro, was named
by Chancellor France Córdova as UCR's recipient
of the 2005-06 "Staff Who Make a Difference
Award" in the field of Administrative Support.
Edmund was one of 30 staff nominated and one of the
final eight honored with special awards.
Edmund
began his service as a volunteer to IEP in 1992 and
in 1996
became a member of the staff. He is, as we fondly call him, the "First
Face of IEP." Edmund arranges hundreds of airport pick-ups and
drop-offs each year. Edmund also takes care of representatives, sponsors
and families who come to visit UCR. He meets them, greets them, tours them,
woos them, and wows them. They always remember him for his professional attitude,
his kind and caring nature, and his friendly and more than competent service.
He
is also responsible for coordinating the visits
of dignitaries and special guests of IEP and
the Vice Chancellor of International Programs.
In
addition, Edmund is also our Senior Resident
Assistant, living in the IRC, overseeing
the RA's and taking care of our students
24 hours a day, 7 days a week! |

To
top all of this off, he makes the transportation
arrangements for the
Chancellor's Office, always seeing that she's where she needs to be when
she needs to be there.
Edmund
is a rare find-every day he does something to come
to the aid of a student, provide exceptional service
to a sponsor or visiting guest,
offer assistance to a colleague, lend an ear, or help a friend.
The
IEP staff and students are very proud of Edmund for
receiving this
honor!
