Learn Outside the Classroom Through our Social and Cultural Activities
The UCR International Education Program's Office of Social and Cultural Activities is responsible for organizing a wide range of student tours and activities that allows you to experience American culture, practice English in real-life situations,see some of the amazing destinations throughout California and socialize with your fellow students from all over the world.
UC Riverside's location in the center of Southern California makes it easy to visit a variety of locations. Outdoor activities are a way of life here. You can hike, bike, swim, surf, boogie board and skate – you can even ski and snowboard in the winter.
No matter what environment you are looking for, you can likely find it in Southern California. From the beaches to the desert, from the forests to the city, hundreds of locations can be reached in about an hour or two.
One of the best parts of coming to UCR IEP is the chance to meet and mingle with your fellow students from all over the world. Parties and cultural events are scheduled throughout the year in celebration of different cultures and U.S. holidays.
The Office of Social and Cultural Activities schedules regular tours to destinations across California. On average, you will have the opportunity to choose from up to three tours each week. These tours are optional and require a small additional fee to cover transportation, escort and entrance fees.
