English Language Programs
The University of California, Riverside International Education Programs offers you a wide variety of short-term and long-term English language programs.

You can choose from short, three-week intensive courses to year-long courses that allow you to explore many areas of American culture and the English language.
Our Programs
Intensive English Programs (IEP)
From beginner to advanced levels, the Intensive English Program provides opportunities to focus on language fluency and academic skills.
English for International Business (EIB)
English for International Business is designed for advanced-level students. The program focuses on improving specific English skills in a business environment and includes site visits to local businesses.
Improving Oral Fluency (IOF)
Improving Oral Fluency helps advanced-level students communicate more effectively by focusing on specific oral skills.
English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
English for Academic Purposes is designed for advanced-level students preparing to enter a college or university undergraduate program.
Conversation and American Culture (CAC)
Offered in three-week sessions, the Conversation and American Culture program gives visitors the opportunity to gain confidence in speaking and listening and to experience California and American culture.
Summer English Programs (SEP)
All of our English language programs have summer options during the months of June, July, August and September.
Study with American students
If you are a student in the advanced level of any 10-week English language programs, you have the opportunity to study with American students by taking a University of California, Riverside Extension class (programs are subject to availability; selection can not be guaranteed. You must meet all prerequisite requirements. Additional fees required).
Get University of California credit for your English Program
If you successfully complete the advanced levels of any 10-week English language program, you are eligible to receive University of California undergraduate elective credits, which are normally transferable to any of the ten University of California campuses and to many other universities in the United States.
Enroll in the American Conversation Partner Program
As a University of California, Riverside IEP 10-week program student, you can request an American Conversation Partner Program. You will be matched with a selected American student or community member for weekly conversations.
The American Conversation Partner Program is a great way to meet new friends, learn about the American culture and practice your English.
Social and Cultural Activities
Whether you only have three weeks to improve your English or are studying for several sessions, we know you will want to see all the famous sights of California. We offer a range of optional social and cultural activities, which may include trips to Disneyland, LA, San Diego, Palm Springs, San Francisco and Las Vegas. We also organize regular social activities so that you have many opportunities to meet and make friends with American students and students from around the world.
