Bronwyn moved to Riverside, California from Canada, where she spent over 20 years in International Education at the University of Victoria and Vancouver Island University. She holds a Masters in Education from the University of Victoria. Bronwyn has traveled extensively to over 45 countries. She loves to cook (and eat) food from different countries. Bronwyn loves the color purple!

A Southern California native, Summer holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Washington, Seattle, and an M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University in Boston. Summer's background in international education includes her own study abroad experiences in Europe and the Middle East, as well as extensive work experience with English language programs in Japan and international education programs in the U.S. Summer is passionate about her work, providing global learning opportunities and experiences. In her free time, she enjoys reading, volunteering in the community, traveling, hiking, and mountain climbing.

Cynthia has worked in university student services over 15 years on campuses in California and Minnesota. As an undergraduate student, she studied abroad in Mexico and later studied as a graduate student in Australia. Her own study abroad and travel experiences help her understand the experience of students who are living away from home. She truly enjoys creating memorable experiences and sharing the beauty of California and the US with others.

Sarah Moyer earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in English Literature and a TESOL Certificate at California State University, Long Beach, and has been working in the field since 2001.  Sarah is proud to serve the needs of the staff, faculty, and students at the International Education Programs at UCR Extension and continues to seek out opportunities for growth and development.  On a more personal level, Sarah enjoys frequenting Disneyland and sipping on coffee, but especially appreciates spending quality time with her family and friends.

Ery Millan-Coffey earned her M.Ed., TESOL Emphasis, from the University of San Diego, School of Leadership and Education Sciences. She also studied the Spanish language in Madrid, Spain, and completed a language, literacy, and culture course in Brazil. She has traveled extensively in Latin America and Europe. Ery enjoys cooking, dancing, spending time at the beach with her family, Spartan races, and learning new skills. She is the type of person who never stops learning and growing, and loves to read. She is also a politics and news junkie, and follows current events very closely. Ery believes that by learning about the world and the people in it, everyone can learn to be better humans, and contribute to the world in a positive way.

Sara has a Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics/TESOL from the University of Alabama, and a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and Linguistics from Wake Forest University. Prior to coming to UCR, she taught English and trained teachers in San Jose, Costa Rica. She has visited five countries on three different continents. In her free time, she enjoys keeping up with friends and family around the world, and playing with her dog, Dixie.

She has spent the last ten years in K-12 education, teaching technology at the elementary level and substitute teaching Kindergarten through 8th grade. Anna graduated from UC Riverside in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and earned a TESOL Certificate in 2014 from UCR Extension. She started work at UCR Extension in 2011 as a student worker and has been the Registration Coordinator for IEP since 2014. Anna enjoys discovering new things to do in Southern California, spending time with friends (especially at Disneyland), cooking, and travelling, having explored Ireland, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Canada.

She started working at the UCR Extension Center as a student worker in her first quarter at UCR, and loves the multicultural atmosphere. Valerie can speak four languages and currently studies many others recreationally. Her other passions include dancing, music, cooking, exercise, and riding on her husband's motorcycle.

Rukmini is from Kathmandu, Nepal. She has done her Bachelor's degree in Economics from her country. Later she completed a diploma in Japanese Language from Japan. She came to USA to earn TESOL Certificate from UCR Extension Center. Afterward, she earned certificate in College Counseling Application from UCR Extension Center. While she was earning TESOL Certificate, she started working as a Conversation Partner Program Coordinator at IEP as a student assistant. She loves to talk with students from different countries. Besides that, she can communicate fluently in five languages.

Lisa graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a Master's degree in History, with a specialization in Modern German History. Prior to joining the Management and Technology department, Lisa worked for UCR's School of Business Administration advising undergraduate students. Lisa has a passion for education and for working with students. Watching them achieve their goals and dreams motivates and inspires her. She has traveled extensively in the U.S. and Europe, as well as Japan and hopes to expand her travels to other countries within Asia, South America and beyond!

Joseph Banks

Joseph Banks is the internship coordinator for UCR-Extension, assisting students in developing work experience opportunities and effectively marketing themselves to experienced professionals. This includes making presentations to employers on how to craft an internship program that meets their organizational needs. Joseph has experience in coaching students in resume crafting, job search techniques, networking, and professional development in both group settings and one-on-one discussions. He obtained a Masters in Business Administration in 2008 from the Monterey Institute of International Studies and a Bachelors in Political Science in 2003 from Brigham Young University. Previously he worked as an Internship Coordinator/Student Advisor for Utah State University's Huntsman School of Business for 5 years. He has also taught GMAT preparation courses to potential graduate students, and for three years taught in Japan as an Assistant Language Teacher in Japanese high schools, creating and presenting daily lesson plans for large classrooms. He enjoys connecting students and employers together for great experiential learning opportunities.

Prior to coming to UCR, Gina worked as an advisor in a graduate management program, and worked in communications and outreach in Los Angeles and London. Christian has worked in the field of education for the past 12 years, 9 of which have been with international programs in Riverside, California. His interest in international education dates back to his childhood in nearby San Bernardino, where he grew up and studied with peers from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds. He further realized his passion for international education in his undergraduate experience, which included time working and living in Mexico. Christian is excited about the academic opportunities for international students in California, and his recent graduate research has focused on international student transfer trends. Outside of work, Christian enjoys music, books, and crossword puzzles.

Steve Eulenberg is originally from San Jose, California and moved to Riverside in 2004 to study English Literature at UCR. He has lived abroad as an English teacher in South Korea and worked with international students in both California and New York City, where he studied International Education at NYU. When he is not helping students succeed at UCR-IEP, Steve also enjoys stand-up comedy, mindfulness meditation, and live music performances.

Edmund is a native Californian, born and raised in the Riverside area. After 2 years studying architecture he joined the US Army and was stationed in Korea. Upon his return, he graduated with a B.A. in History from CSUSB, going on to earn a TESOL certificate from UCR Extension, and never left. He has been at UCR for over 15 years, serving as a student worker and College Counselor. Edmund enjoys rock climbing, mountain biking and hiking, and has travelled to Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Taiwan.

Vanessa received her B.A. in Political Science from Cal State San Bernardino. She started as a volunteer at IEP and has now happily worked for IEP for four years. She currently helps coordinate student trips to theme parks and local destinations and plan socio-cultural student activities. Some of her hobbies are reading fantasy books, watching Korean dramas, and going to watch the latest movies.

Originally from Seoul, Korea, Wan graduated from Sejong University (Korea) with a degree in Japanese Language and literature, later earning a TESOL certificate from UCR Extension. She has also worked at Hokuriku University in Japan, one of IEP’s sister universities. Wan began at IEP as a student assistant and has been the Homestay Program Coordinator since 2002. She speaks Korean and Japanese and in her free time, loves to spend time with her family and children.

She now works with students living at the International Village apartments. Tiffany enjoys travelling, spending time outdoors, and relaxing at the beach.

Nicholas is a California native and a lover of everything Star Wars. He earned his B.A. in English, his M.A. in Applied Linguistics and his TESL certificate all from California State University, San Bernardino. While he was a graduate student there, he taught in a local elementary school reading intervention program and volunteered as English pronunciation instructor at a Spanish language community center. He has experience as a graduate level writing tutor, an ESL instructor, and with curriculum design for ESL programs. He enjoys listening to music, watching and playing various sports, and spending quality time with his family.

Elissar Kurban

Elissar brings over 15 years of experience in higher education. Before joining UCR, she worked at the University of Miami and the American University in Dubai. Prior to working in higher education, she spent five years working in various facets of Trade and Cultural Missions in the Middle East, Europe, and the US. She also launched and managed events and functions at the World Expo in Portugal and the Walt Disney World- Epcot Center in Florida. She has lived and worked in five continents and visited over 50 countries. She holds an M.A. in Liberal Studies from the University of Miami, and a B.B.A. in Marketing from American Intercontinental University. She speaks five languages, and has a passion for food and wine. In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding, yoga, and hiking.

Walter Foreman

Walter hails from sunny Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, but has lived in South Korea since 1998. A true advocate of international education, he obtained his B.Ed. in Canada, his M.A. in Australia, and is working toward his Ph.D. in South Korea. During his time in Korea, Walter has been involved in both academia and administration, with liberal doses of television, radio, and print media appearances. Among his many interests, Walter is an avid Formula One fan.

Herim Kim

Erin Butler, M.A., TESOL, Middlebury Institute for International Studies, also holds a TESOL Professional Certificate from UCR Extension, and a secondary California teaching credential. She has more than 20 years of experience teaching English as a Second Language to international students in South Korea, China, Vietnam and the U.S. Ms. Butler has traveled to more than 30 countries in Asia, Africa, South and Central America, Europe and the Arabian Peninsula, is an intermediate speaker of Spanish and Japanese, and beginning speaker of Mandarin.

Reza Bahrami

Reza Bahrami, Ph.D., Education, also holds a Master's in TESOL, and has been teaching English as a Second Language professionally for more than 16 years. Dr. Bahrami has extensive experience teaching undergraduate and graduate-level test preparation courses, including the GMAT, GRE, LSAT, SAT, TOEFL, and IELTS, to international students. Dr. Bahrami has also taught at Tehran University, Shepherd University in Los Angeles, and for both the AOI and LASC Schools of Languages in Irvine.

Karen Gregg-Nelson, B.A., also holds a TESOL Professional Certificate, and has more than 25 years of experience teaching English to all ages. She taught English in Japan for five years, has written two textbooks for beginning and advanced grammar students, and specializes in teaching grammar in discourse for oral communication. Ms. Gregg-Nelson is also fluent in Japanese, conversational in Spanish, and, as a homestay "parent", has hosted over 20 students.

Robert Hughes

Robert Hughes, M.Ed., TESOL Emphasis, also holds a TESOL Professional Certificate, and has worked in the field of English as a Second Language and English as a Foreign Language for more than 21 years. He specializes in teaching reading, writing, vocabulary, and the use of films as a tool for language learning. Mr. Hughes has also traveled and taught English in Bulgaria, South Korea and Thailand.

Matthew Kutter

Matthew Kutter, M.Ed., TESOL and Adult Education Emphasis, has been teaching English as a Second Language and English as a Foreign Language, as well as conducting TESOL teacher training, for more than 15 years. He spent four years living, working, and traveling in Indonesia. He assisted in the design and implementation of the teacher training portfolio for UCR's Professional Certificate in TESOL, and has been instrumental in curriculum design and piloting.

Karen Q. Lindwall, M.Ed., TESOL Emphasis, also holds a TESOL Professional Certificate and a Multiple Subject California Teaching Credential. She has 25 years of experience teaching English as a Second Language to international students in France, Japan, Thailand, and the U.S., specializing in integrated listening, speaking, and grammar. Ms. Lindwall also has extensive experience in TESOL and TEFL teacher training, TOEFL preparation, business English, and oral skills development.

Mindy Longoni

Mindy Longoni, M.A., TESOL Emphasis, has spent the last 17 years teaching English as a Second Language to both children and adults in Spain, China, and the U.S. She specializes in assessment and TESOL reading and vocabulary techniques. Ms. Longoni co-authored the ESL reading textbook series, Well Read: Skills and Strategies for Reading (1, 2, 3 and 4), published by Oxford University Press. She has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Cuba, Mexico and Canada. Ms. Longoni is also an advanced speaker of Spanish, and conversational in Italian.

Hank Mantell

Hank Mantell, B.A. (Cum Laude), also holds a TESOL Professional Certificate from Columbia Teacher’s College, and has more than 35 years of experience teaching English as a Second Language to international students in Kenya, the Middle East and the U.S. He has trained ESL teachers in South Korea and Turkey, and graduate students at the National University of Mexico. Mr. Mantell teaches a wide range of subjects including grammar, reading, writing, listening, academic skills, TESOL writing methodologies, as well as TOEFL, GMAT and GRE preparation classes.

John Moran

John Moran, M.S., TESOL Emphasis, also holds Professional Certificates in Human Resources and Marketing. He has more than 15 years of experience teaching English as a Second Language to international students in Japan and the U.S. Mr. Moran specializes in teaching business English and grammar.

Debbie Peterson, B.A., Linguistics, also holds a TESOL Professional Certificate, and has more than 25 years of experience teaching international students in Switzerland and the U.S. Ms. Peterson teaches writing, TESOL methodology, English usage, and specializes in all levels of English grammar and pronunciation.

Patrick Wood

Patrick Wood, M.B.A., has been teaching English as a Second Language to international students in Kansas, Ohio, California, and Thailand for 20 years. He has taught in academic preparation, exam preparation, business English, and adult ESL programs. Mr. Wood specializes in teaching grammar, reading, writing, listening, and speaking to all levels of language learners. He has traveled extensively in Mexico, England, France, Senegal, Mauritania, Thailand, Laos, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and China.

Arlene Yalcin

Arlene Yalcin, M.Ed., TESOL Emphasis, also holds a Multiple Subject California Teaching Credential from Chapman University, and an undergraduate degree from UCLA in Japanese Language and Culture. She has taught English as a Second Language to international students in Korea and the U.S. for more than 20 years. Ms. Yalcin specializes in teaching integrated reading and writing, and has prepared and delivered TESOL and TEFL teacher training programs. She has traveled throughout the Philippines, Indonesia, Brazil, Mexico, France, Argentina, Uruguay, and Turkey.

Lisa Zufferey

Lisa Zufferey, M.A., also holds a TESOL Professional Certificate, and has been teaching English as a Second Language to international students for more than 30 years. She specializes in teaching grammar and writing, and has expertise in test development. Ms. Zufferey is conversational in French, and has traveled extensively in France, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, and throughout the United Kingdom.
