If you are interested in studying TESOL in California, then consider International Education Programs (IEP) at University of California, Riverside. IEP’s 1-year TESOL certificate program caters to the special needs of international students and prepares them to teach English to speakers of other languages. TESOL students study conversation, listening, vocabulary, writing, pronunciation, grammar, reading and American culture. In addition, TESOL students participate in a student teaching class where they prepare for and teach a real class.

Year-Round
Programs
Our programs are offered on a year-round
basis, so you may choose to begin your studies when it is most convenient
for you. The duration varies from two weeks to one year in our regularly
scheduled programs. Special programs may be arranged for any length of time
for groups with particular interests or time restraints.

Certificate
A
University of California Extension certificate is awarded upon successful
completion of a program. In addition, transcripts recording academic
credit are available for students at the 500/600 levels in the Intensive English for foreigns Program.

Modern Facility
IEP's
new facilities in the UCR Extension Center offer comfortable air-conditioned
classrooms, a large language laboratory, seven computer (Macintosh
and IBM) laboratories, two student lounges, conference rooms, an ESL
library, a bookstore, food services, and International Residence Center.

Language
Skill Placement
In
IEP English language programs, you study with people who have the same
level of skills as yours. Our language placement test determines the
appropriate level - not too easy, not too difficult - at which
you should begin your studies.

Exam
Preparation Classes
If
you plan to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL),
TOEIC, GRE or GMAT, you may take an extra class (at an added fee) developed
specifically to help you improve your scores. The institutional TOEFL
and the TOEIC are offered twice each quarter.

Campus
Classes with American Students
Students
in the advanced levels of the Intensive English Program, English for
International Business, Improving Oral Fluency or University Preparation
Program may take UC Riverside and Extension classes in any field such
as business, computers, agriculture and arts. (Fall, winter and spring
quarters only.)
