Academic-Year Certificate Programs

Purchasing, Logistics and Supply Chain Management

Riverside and the Inland Empire sit at the hub of the western United States logistics and supply chain industry, connecting two of the world’s largest ports, Los Angeles and Long Beach, to the rest of North America. This program provides students with a unique and cutting-edge perspective on this growing and important global industry. The program is ideal for those wishing to work in international trade and finance, and manufacturing, distribution or global operations management. The program is endorsed by the Distribution Managers Association and Supply Chain Managers throughout this fast growing region of Southern California.

CURRICULUM – 3 Quarter Sessions

Fall Quarter (September-December)

Winter Quarter (January-April)

•  Cost, Performance and Customer Service for the Supply Chain
•  Global Logistics

•  Contract Negotiation
•  Procurement and Subcontract Management
•  Current Issues and Case Studies
in Purchasing
•  Quality and Performance Management

Spring Quarter (April-June)
Required Courses:
•  Transportation and Traffic Management
•  Inventory Management

Electives (select two):
•  Legal Aspects of Purchasing
•  Price and Cost Analysis in Purchasing
•  Project Procurement Management
•  Strategic Marketing

Length:  36-week. 3 x 12-week session.

Average class size: 14
When is it offered? September to June
Required proficiency: minimum TOEFL® score of 523 (paper)/193 (computer), TOEIC® score of 700 or above, TSE® score of 45 or above and be at the 600 level of UC Riverside Extension’s Intensive English Program or equivalent.
Minimum Age:  15
Tuition
The tuition for the entire 36-week (about nine months) program is (please see Schedule & Fees page) .
Application Deadline
Application deadline is one month before the starting date of the program.
Optional Practical Training
Upon completion of an Academic-year Certificate Program, you may be eligible for up to a year of Optional Practical Training (OPT) at an American company.
