CHARACTERISTICS OF INSTITUTION
Learn English at UCR. Located on the campus of the University of California, Riverside, International Education Programs (IEP) offers a wide variety of English language programs, career programs and special programs for students and professionals. All programs are offered on a year-round basis. The duration of each program varies from three weeks to one year and special programs may be arranged for any length of time for groups of 15 or more who have particular interests. IEP instructors are competent, friendly and dedicated professionals. They have extensive experience in teaching international students and many of them have lived abroad. Academic facilities include modern and comfortable classrooms, language and computer laboratories equipped with the latest technology software. The institutional TESOL exam is offered twice each quarter. Special services include airport pick-up, program orientation, housing assistance, immigration assistance, social activities, short tours in Southern California, and placement in American universities. The 1200-acre tree-shaded campus is one of the most beautiful of the university system, and it is located in Riverside, a safe and friendly town.

Intensive English Program: English for international students preparing to enter an American university, for professionals or for individuals 15 years or older who wish to improve their English ability. Free conversational partners.

Improving Oral Fluency Program: This English program allows those in advanced level to enhance their speaking and listening. For business people, students preparing for American universities, teachers or anyone wishing to improve his spoken skills.

English for International Business Program: Helps participants learn basic American business practices while acquiring English skills advanced learnes would need in an academic or professional setting.

University Preparation Program: English for those who want to study at an American university. Special curriculum available for those interested in MBA programs. Students are encouraged to take one campus class with American students.

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Program: English for those who would like to teach English or for those who already teach English in their own countries. Classes present new developments in TESOL.

Design-Your-Own Program: English for those who have advanced skills and want a program individually tailored for their special needs. Any combination of English classes, campus classes and/or regular certificate programs offered at UC Riverside.

Professional Programs: Short-term daytime certificate programs designed for an international audience of professionals interested in the fields of management, environmental sciences, agriculture, education, and science.Includes on-site visits to Southern California businesses and companies.

Conversation & American Culture Program: For those who have only 3-4 weeks for language study aged 10 to adults and wish to improve speaking and listening skills.
